What to do this June  in Mammoth Lakes

Winter may be over but the fun has just begun! The town of Mammoth Lakes has plenty of activities and events to suit people of every age and nearly every interest during this time of year. The Sierra Star Golf Course and the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park provide fun all throughout the summer months for a wide range of people, and of course there is always fishing, horseback riding, and hiking to be done as well. Aside from these things that can be done for months there are also special events specific to the month of June.

June 8th is GO Day, also known as National Get Outdoors Day, and there is something for everyone, especially the kids. The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center has childrens’ activities as well as a place to simply get outdoors and experience nature tours. Also on June 8th is KidApolooza! From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm the kids can do countless fun activities at Mammoth Creek Park. Everything is free and there will be fun booths, animals, giveaways, a bike rodeo, and there is even live entertainment including the Alphabet Rockers. On June 15th is the Mammoth to Bishop bike ride and finish line music festival. This “green event” in the Eastern Sierra Mountains will provide you with amazing scenery and a nice yet difficult ride with altitude change. The music festival alone makes the ride worth it! The Inaugural Mammoth Half Marathon is on June 23rd. If you’re more of a runner, then this run through the beautiful and unique Eastern Sierras is perfect for you! The race begins at around 9,000 ft., is downhill and quick paced, and ends in the town of Mammoth. For those of you looking for a thrill there is also the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross June 21-30!

Whoever you are, whatever your age, and regardless of whether you have kids or not, Mammoth Lakes is the perfect destination for a quick summer vacation or even a lasting getaway during these beautiful summer months. Having the option to come and visit whenever you pleased would make it even better, so feel free to check out condos and maybe even some houses that you could proudly call your second home in the beautiful Eastern Sierras!
