Clubhouse Live

A free after school program for middle and high school students in Mammoth Lakes, CA. It gives these youths some time to hang out, finish homework, and socialize. The program also encourages participants to get involved in positive community activities. The Clubhouse is located at the Mono County Sierra Wellness Center, on the 2nd floor in Suite 207. If you are new to town or just didn’t know, the Mono County Sierra Wellness Center is located in the Sierra Center Mall in Mammoth Lakes. The Clubhouse is staffed by Mono County Behavioral Health employees. Permission slips are required for all youth to attend. Clubhouse Live is a program designed to engage youth in healthy choices and activities, such as dances, sports and out-of-town excursions, and promote clean, sober wellness, as well as give kids a safe and fun place to go after school.   • Monday: 2:45p.m. to 5 p.m. (for 6th-8th Graders)
  • Wednesday: 2:45p.m. to 5 p.m. (for 6th-8th Graders)
  • Thursday: 2:45p.m. to 5 p.m. (for 9th-12th Graders)
  • Friday: 2:45p.m. to 5 p.m. (for 9th-12th Graders)

U.S.F.S. vehicle auction

The annual U.S. Forest Service used vehicle and equipment auction is scheduled for Oct. 22. Vehicles, including compact and full-size pickups, SUV’s, utility trucks, (2) farm tractors and (1) grader will be sold to the highest bidder by way of an online auction through the GSA website www.gsaauctions.gov. Bidders must register on the website. The sale number is 91QSCI-13-041. Vehicles are located locally at: Inyo National Forest Equipment Shop: 798 N. Main Street; Bishop, CA (Lot #s 146-162). Potential bidders can view vehicles and equipment Monday, Oct.15, through Friday Oct.19, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There will be no weekend viewing. The Internet Auction closes on Monday Oct. 22. Measure R Fall Award Applications

The Town of Mammoth Lakes 2012 Measure R Fall Award application process is now open to sumbit evaluation material, and funding principles and priorities. The 2012 Measure R Fall Award application period will close on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. Funding consideration by Town Council is scheduled on Dec. 19. Vons, MLH Breast Cancer Team

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Vons and the Healthcare Trust of Mammoth Lakes are teaming up to ensure that all donations through Vons check-stands stay local during the month of October. All donations will help underprivileged women of Mono County pay for mammograms. Show your support while you shop and give back to your community through the end of October.


Lee Vining & June Lake Food Banks

Food Bank donations are needed in the local communities of Lee Vining and June Lake. Now is your chance to help people living in these and nearby towns who require assistance. Food donations would augment monthly government program food and allow distribution of baskets at the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. Please donate only non-perishable foods. The containers to drop food items are located in the Lee Vining and June Lake Post Office buildings during October and November. Check donations can also be made payable to: Community Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 267, Lee Vining, CA 93541. Trails System Grand Opening

The public is invited to join the Inyo National Forest (INF), Town of Mammoth Lakes (TOML), Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA), and the Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access Foundation (MLTPA) on Saturday, Oct. 20, to celebrate the completion of a series of important federally, state, and locally funded trail projects. Start the day with a Special Summer of Stewardship Trail Event from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Meet at the Twin Lakes Vista parking lot. Trolley Tours of the completed Recovery Act projects and the new Mammoth Trail System Signage will be running in the morning. Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony from 2–4 p.m. at the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center marks the official Grand Opening of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System. To cap off the day, join MLTPA at 7 p.m. for a “Tools of the Trails System” fundraising event at the Westin Monache Resort. $10 admission fee. Info: 760.934.3154 or www.mltpa.org.
