Cerro Coso Community College (CCCC – https://www.cerrocoso.edu/) is the local two year college serving the Eastern Sierra communities of Mammoth lakes, Bishop, Big pine, Independence, June lake, Death Valley, Lone Pine, and just about everywhere else within both Inyo and Mono Counties.  CCCC is one of three colleges in the Kern Community College District.  The beautiful campus located within Mammoth Lakes is referred to as the Eastern Sierra College Center.  There is also campuses located Edwards Air Force Base (the East Kern Center), Lake Isabella (the Kern River Valley campus), and Ridgecrest / Indian Wells Valley.  And then of course there is CC Online too allowing students to take classes remotely from the use of their computer.

The CCCC campus located within Mammoth Lakes is what I am familiar with.  I have only taken one Spanish class there, but I can tell you that the facility is new, clean, and positioned with word-class mountain views.  In fact, as seen in my photos below, the South gateway Student Apartments (http://www.mammothstudentapartments.org/) have about the best view you could ever imagine for a “dorm room”!!!    If this place existed when I was 17 years old, I could have easily seen myself throwing in the towel on my four-year university to come here and fulfill my ski-bum dreams (I mean education dreams).

CCCC opened back in 1973 and has been expanding itself ever since.  It has a long history of providing students a fantastic education and lifestyle experience.  Click here to read about the top 11 reasons why to choose CCCC:

At CCCC the staff and faculty are always striving to better the student experience through a multitude of programs that can offer higher education.  This gives attendees the skill sets and confidence to enter the workforce with confidence and knowledge.  CCCC values important traits such as student learning, creativity, accountability, and diversity.  The outcome is an Associate’s Degree accompanied with experience intended to lead graduating students towards success in whichever career path and industry they may choose.

To learn more about Cerro Coso Community College should you be interested, or have a child that you may be interested in sending there, I strongly suggest taking a visit to Mammoth Lakes.  Walk the campus, check out the student housing, and soak in the environment!  Walk the trail system that passes right through campus….i know I walk it just about daily with my dog.  It’s a beautiful setting regardless what of year!
